Quito, Ecuador

We enjoyed the privilege of partnering with the ministry of It’s About Kids in order to help make the vision of a school come true. In the summer of 2006, we spent five months in a small town outside Quito with Ron and Sharon Stiff, and their 12 adopted children.

Chris worked with a team of Ecuadorian architects and craftsmen to design and build a school that today holds 300+ students.

Built according to California building codes to withstand the area’s potential volcanic activity, Montebello Academy is a place where children are educated in English, and taught to know and love God. The school’s influence bridges religious, social and  economic classes and provides a beacon of hope to these children and their families.

Ron Stiff, Founder of “Its About Kids, ” states, ”Chris’s presence was critical to our success in building our new school, not only because of his knowledge of construction and background in project management, but in particular Chris’ tremendous ability to adapt foreign techniques and materials to achieve a quality of construction (aesthetics, functionality and safety) that would be appreciated anywhere in the world. Chris was extremely meticulous — first in planning and then in ordering processes that minimized dead times, confusion, and overall loss of production. I have invited Chris to return to Ecuador to build our 30,000 ft. elementary school.”
